2006 Fids and Kamily Poll Announced
2006 was the year kids' music went big time. Laurie Berkner, Dan Zanes, Justin Roberts -- every week it seemed like a kids' artist received national attention. And if that weren't enough, "adult musicians" -- Jack Johnson, Ben Folds, Paul Westerberg, to name just a few -- were getting into the act, too.
How in the world can you -- or your readers -- separate the pretenders from the real deal?
Announcing the 2006 Fids and Kamily Poll, the first compilation of year-end kids and family music "best of" lists from critics, writers, radio programmers, and others involved in the music industry. Modeled after the Village Voice's Pazz & Jop Poll, the Fids and Kamily Poll will compile "best of" lists from a select list of people tuned into the burgeoning kids' music genre to produce a consensus list of the year's best kids and family music. No entry fees, no applications necessary, just opinions from people who’ve heard a lot of kids’ music.
In November, the results will be announced both here at the Fids and Kamily website as well as on the Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child radio broadcast, just in time to help families looking to share great music with their family and friends. The website will include special summaries of each of the honored albums written by judges in the poll.
